The ability to attune to the Reiki frequency is passed from Master to student during an attunement process which opens the Crown, Heart, and Palm Chakras.

During the process, negative karma is lifted from the receiver, as if in reward for becoming a healer.

An attunement is best given in person as part of a Reiki class. This is how reiki was taught by the founder, Dr. Mikao Usui and also by his students in Japan.
